Professional Stone Setting Workshop at ³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ
Fundamentals of Round Faceted Stone Setting: A Two-Week Intensive
Monday, October 23 to Friday, November 3, 8:00am-3:00pm, weekdays

The course will be taught by Ann Cahoon JM ’02, the Department Head. “We decided to offer this course to give people access to the professional stone setting skills we teach in a short course format since more and more people are looking for short, intensive hands-on training opportunities,” she says.
All students in the course will gain a fundamental understanding of the relationship between a gemstone and its seat, how to cut a seat, how to secure a stone in prongs, and how to safely finish a piece after setting. Additional techniques and styles will be explored as time allows, including undercutting, flush, and bezel setting.
The two-week course is open to anyone, whether you are already a professional jeweler or an advanced hobbyist, and you’ll learn alongside full-time jewelry making students at ³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ. You can expect lots of individual attention, and you’ll be able to work at your own pace.
Ann shares, “There aren’t any other schools or facilities in New England offering this kind of concentrated professional training, and it’s all transferable to more advanced techniques. It’s a great opportunity for professionals who hope to take their skills to the next level.”
